Lakers: Top LA Trade Target No Longer Available?

The Los Angeles Lakers will be looking into upgrading their roster at the trade deadline this season after an up-and-down start.

They have been injured for the most part, but have done a good job of staying afloat. However, this team does need an upgrade on the offensive side of the ball. It could see them make a trade or two that gives them a better chance to win the title this season.

The Action Network has reported that the Toronto Raptors will be holding onto defensive specialist OG Anunoby. Anunoby has been a trade target of the Lakers for some time now, but they can cross him off the list at the trade deadline this year.

“The Toronto Raptors aren’t willing to tear it down just yet with a little less than two months left before what could be a pivotal NBA trade deadline, according to Action Network’s Matt Moore. Moore reported the Raptors “are likely to build around” Scottie Barnes and OG Anunoby, with Pascal Siakam potentially landing with a team “willing to pay him this summer.”

Anunoby not being available may not change much for the Lakers, as he was always the dream target. They likely don’t have the assets that would be able to land him from Toronto.

But the team does continue to be linked with All-Star guard Zach LaVine, who does make sense for this team. He would give them another scoring option, while also having the skillset to take some of the ball-handling responsibilities away from star LeBron James.

LA has multiple options and paths that they can go down at the trade deadline to improve the team. Their front office deserves the benefit of the doubt right now, so it should be an interesting few months.
