‘Police incident’ shuts Stoke-on-Trent A50 and it’s not known when it’ll reopen
Rush-hour drivers are being warned of ’45-minute’ delays after the closure of the A50 through Stoke-on-Trent. National Highways has no idea how long the A50 will remain closed today.
It follows a ‘police incident’ at 6.28am today. It has closed both sides of the A50 between the bet365 Stadium and the Heron Cross and Fenton junctions.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix states: “The A50 is closed in both directions due to a police incident from the bet365 Stadium junction to the A5007 Victoria Place Link for Heron Cross and Fenton. There is congestion to before Alhambra Interchange and routes through Longton as traffic diverts away from the closure.”
It states: “The A50 is closed both ways due to an incident being handled by the police. Due to the nature of the incident we are unable to provide an estimated duration. There are long delays in the area.”
