Midfielder granted permission to complete Stoke City transfer

Stoke City are reportedly on course to complete the signing of Japanese midfielder Tatsuki Seko from J1 League club Kawasaki Frontale.

As the Potters continued their great start to the season on the field last night – adding advancement to the Carabao Cup second round to an opening day Championship win over Coventry City – the hard work also continues behind the scenes. Both ins and outs aplenty are anticipated before the transfer window slams shut.

Sponichi Annex claim that midfielder Seko is one of two players to have departed Kawasaki Frontale’s squad in order to finalise transfers away from the club. In this particular player’s case, it is believed he is headed to the bet365 Stadium after an offer was accepted.

They describe Seko, 26, as a right-footed natural defensive midfielder who also possesses the capabilities to play as a right-back when called upon. His ‘pressing technique’ and ‘physical’ style of play have earned him plaudits as part of a side that have won the Japanese Cup and Japanese Super Cup.

He originally moved to Kawasaki in 2022, where he has since made 93 appearances. Prior to that he played for Yokohama FC and the Meiji University team, so in total boasts a record of 169 career professional outings, with 10 goals and 15 assists to his name.
