Macron: It would be fantastic if Celine Dion performs at the opening of the Olympic games
French President Emmanuel Macron is hoping world-famous singer Celine Dion will get the chance to perform at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on Friday.
“It would be fantastic news if Celine Dion performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games this year in Paris,” Macron said, after it was speculated that the singer would appear at this event, writes the BBC.
The Canadian-born star was seen in the French capital on Friday.
Dion, who has performed in English and French, is among other stars rumored to be attending the event, including Lady Gaga.
“It seems she has reached Paris, it’s amazing! I would be very happy if you could attend this opening ceremony. It will not reveal anything about what the organizers have prepared. There will also be a surprise,” Macron said for the France2 channel.
Celine Dion has been diagnosed with stiff muscle syndrome in December 2022. Her performance in Paris would mark the singer’s return to the stage after a long time dealing with the disease.
Popular artist Lady Gaga is also reported to have arrived in Paris and it is speculated that she too will perform at the opening ceremony of the Olympic games.
It is said that French R&B singer Aya Nakamura will also perform at this event.
