The Italy international played an important part in the build-up before converting the opening goal after 26 minutes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Taking a pass from Pedro Porro in the ‘10’ position, central, 35 yards out, Destiny spun away from Miguel Almiron and played wide to Heung-Min Son.

The full-back then darted into the box and arrived with perfect timing to tuck away Sonny’s cross from close range after the skipper beat Kieran Trippier and got to the left byline. Sonny repeated the trick for Richarlison to make it 2-0 before the break, and the Brazil striker added a third from Porro’s superb pass on the hour. Sonny made it four from the penalty spot on 85 minutes before Joelinton’s late consolation.

Destiny was quick to remind us that he was on target in Ange Postecoglou’s first match in charge, our opening pre-season match of the summer against West Ham in Perth, but this was his first competitive goal since scoring during for Udinese against Sassuolo during his loan spell in Serie A in February.
