Derby County predicted XI, team and injury news for pre-season friendly v Barnsley

Derby County have lost their last two pre-season fixtures against Chesterfield and Shrewsbury Town but the Rams will be determined to make amends against Barnsley

Derby finished ahead of the Tykes in League One last term as they lost in the play-off semi-finals against Bolton Wanderers.

Paul Warne’s men will need to sharpen their tools in front of goal having blanked against Chesterfield and found the net once against Shrewsbury.

With only one more fixture after their trip to Oakwell – a home clash against Spanish outfit Valladolid – Warne’s strongest starting XI for the new campaign will begin to take shape.

Derby County team news

In League One last term, Warne was plagued by injuries throughout but he still managed to deliver a second-place finish.

It means that a near fully fit squad to choose from has been a rare luxury in recent times however, that is the case heading into their match against Barnsley.

The Derby boss will be without Jake Rooney, though, as the young defender suffered an injury setback which will keep him out for roughly four months.

Warne will hope his side avoids any further casualties, with just over one week until their return to league action – a trip to Blackburn Rovers.

So, with that in mind, here’s how Derby could line up against Barnsley.
