Ipswich Town: Jay Emmanuel-Thomas joins Greenock Morton
Former Ipswich Town forward Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has returned to Scotland to join Championship side Greenock Morton on a six-month deal.
The 33-year-old spent last season at National League side Kidderminster Harriers, joining them in February, but was unable to prevent them from relegation to the sixth tier.
On signing for the Ton’s, his new manager added: “I am delighted to welcome Jay to Morton, he is a player who will add quality, bring a wealth of experience to the squad and provide a different option for us in the attacking area.”
It’s a return to Scottish football for Emmanuel-Thomas, having previously spent time at Livingston and Aberdeen between 2020 to 2022.
Overall, the man known as ‘JET’ scored nine goals in 75 games during his spell at Portman Road after joining the Blues for £1.1m from Arsenal in 2011.
However, he departed the Blues two years later to join Bristol City in a straight swap for Paul Anderson.
He moved to QPR in 2015, before spells playing in Thailand and India.
