West Ham United have reportedly submitted an offer to sign 28-year-old Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth from La Liga club Villarreal this summer.
According to a report by El Periodico Mediterraneo, as relayed by Sport Witness, Alexander Sorloth is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have already made an offer to sign the Villarreal attacker, with the Yellow Submarine pointing to his release clause of €38 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.
The rise of Alexander Sorloth in La Liga
Alexander Sorloth has established himself as one of the best strikers in La Liga since joining Villarreal from RB Leipzig last summer. A native of Trondheim, he spent his formative years in his homeland but struggled for stability for most of his professional career before moving to Estadio de la Ceramica in July 2023.
The 28-year-old was exceptional throughout the 2023/24 season, particularly in La Liga, as he came close to winning the Pichichi Trophy before Artem Dovbyk pipped him to the prize. Sorloth amassed 26 goals and six assists in 41 appearances across all competitions last term, with 21 strikes coming in La Liga.
Meanwhile, Alexander Sorloth’s exploits for Villarreal have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. A return to the Premier League in the summer transfer window might be on the cards, with West Ham United vying for the Norwegian striker’s signature.
