‘ABBA Voyage’ Is Making $2 Million a Week With an Avatar Band

One of the most expensive tours in music history has created a new model for aging stars.

Happy Labor Day to everyone and a special shoutout to those of you I will see at Beyonce this evening. Having written about the strike several times in recent weeks, I am going to devote this week’s issue to a couple other subjects.

But for those wondering, the optimistic take is that the writers and studios got close a couple weeks ago and will hammer out a deal in the coming weeks. The pessimistic take is that the studios still haven’t come far enough and the writers will extract as much as they can before doing a deal.

Chris Keyser, co-head of the negotiating committee for Hollywood screenwriters, said the studios need to do more and offer more than they normally do if they want to end this strike.
