Hugo Lloris could make premier league returns in January

The Magpies’s No 1 Nick Pope faces a number of months on the sidelines with a dislocated shoulder, leaving manager Eddie Howe having to instil confidence in his No 2 for the foreseeable future.

Martin Dubravka deputised for Pope in Newcastle’s 3-0 defeat to Everton on Thursday, and is expected to remain in goal for the foreseeable future with Loris Karius as back-up.

But the January transfer window will provide the club with an opportunity to sign cover for Pope as they look to continue to push on all fronts following a successful season last term.

According to The Sun, Newcastle could make a shock move for Lloris, who won’t play for Tottenham again and could be open to a transfer to St James’s Park.

Lloris made the last of his 447 Spurs appearances last season and has not been involved in a single match day squad this term after seeking a move away in the summer.
