A 15-year-old boy was arrested in Davenport Road for breaching a criminal behaviour order…….

Police have confirmed that a boy was the only person to be arrested on the first night of Godiva Festival 2024. West Midlands Police say that the teen, who has not been identified, was arrested last night (July 5).

He was detained just outside the festival site area in Davenport Road. The teen is now due to appear in court today.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “A 15-year-old boy was arrested in Davenport Road for breaching a criminal behaviour order. He was appearing before Coventry Magistrates Court today.”

Coventry city council had previously warned that there would be a ‘zero tolerance’ approach taken at the festival, which is taking place at the War Memorial Park throughout this weekend. Extra patrols are being made around the festival site area as well as the wider city as part of the ongoing ‘Project Servator’.

This, West Midlands Police force say, will see high-visibility and plain clothed officers on patrol around the park and the city. Coventry Police have said that these deployments ‘can pop up anywhere, at any time’.
