Man City must pay ‘£100m’ to lure Branthwaite from Everton – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Man City would need to pay £100million after add-ons to sign Jarrad Branthwaite.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the 22-year-old is the “best young defender of a generation”.
According to The Sun (30 June), Man City are ready to join the race for Branthwaite after hijacking Man United’s interest – but Everton are no longer under pressure to sell.
Football Insider revealed last month (17 June) that United have already seen a bid of £35million plus add-ons rejected by the Merseyside club.
Branthwaite signed a fresh contract at Goodison Park in October 2023, which keeps him at the club until June 2027.
He was an ever-present for Sean Dyche’s side last term as they avoided relegation and has recently made his senior England debut.
