Pregnant soccer star Alex Morgan says she is ‘scared’ her husband won’t be allowed in the delivery room when she gives birth because of COVID-19 – and reveals she may have the baby at home instead

US Women’s Soccer star Alex Morgan is due to give birth to her first child, a daughter, next month — but with COVID-19 patients filling up hospitals, she’s facing the scary possibility of delivering her baby without her husband, LA Galaxy player Servando Carrasco.

The 30-year-old Women’s World Cup winner covers the new issue of Glamour this month, showing off her baby bump in a series of stunning beach photos. But though she looks serene in the images, reports that partners are being banned from some delivery rooms have her unsettled.

‘That definitely scared me,’ she told the magazine. ‘I wouldn’t feel comfortable delivering without my husband or my doula, but especially my husband.’

Some of Alex’s other plans are changing, too. Ever the star athlete, she had announced that she intended to train throughout pregnancy so that she could play in the 2020 Olympics.

Until she was seven months pregnant, she did intense workouts six days a week, including on-the-field sessions, weight training, spin classes, and runs. After that, she transitioned into slightly less intense workouts, including jogging physical therapy, pelvic-floor physical therapy, prenatal yoga.

But on March 24, the International Olympic Committee announced that the Olympics would be postponed until 2021.

Alex agreed that this was the ‘right decision,’ despite the training time she’d put in.

In the new Glamour interview, she also addressed people who questioned her decision to get pregnant at the height of her career.

‘It’s not like women can’t do both — our bodies are incredible — it’s the fact that this world isn’t really set up for women to thrive. That was one thing where I was like, “Do I want to be public with this?” This is my body, my family, my life,’ she said.
