The Chicago Bulls could be offering some doorbuster deals at this year’s trade deadline, but one notable player may not be a part of it.
Bulls insider KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago reported Thursday that the Bulls are “hesitant” to trade away guard Alex Caruso. Johnson notes that Caruso has been a major success story for the current Chicago regime and that management would find it “painful” to part ways with the 29-year-old.
Caruso, an All-Defensive First Teamer on an inexpensive contract, is already drawing trade interest from a few top teams. But he is an important tone-setter and culture-builder for the Bulls’ young players with his hustle and his high-IQ play. Sometimes, that is far more valuable than anything you would be able to get on the trade market.
Wholesale changes are probably coming regardless for the stagnant 8-14 Bulls. But some of their other guards seem far likelier to go at this point than The Carushow.
