What Aberdeen are saying about Celtic signing Miovski from them

The Bojan Miovski to Celtic rumour was one that started as pundits just shooting the breeze about who Brendan Rodgers should look to buy if all their current strikers get called up for the Asian Cup.

Celtic face the very real prospect of heading into three games in January strikerless and unless Rodgers addresses that situation properly, his title hopes could be seriously affected.

This has led to reports telling us that Celtic have been watching the Aberdeen striker for a number of weeks and are keen on signing him.

Whilst the fans mull over whether he is good enough for Celtic or not, Mark Guidi has shared what Aberdeen’s thoughts are on the situation.

Guidi said [The Go Radio Football Show], “He’s a good player and I think the way he took his goal against Rangers at Pittodrie 10 days ago probably put him up a notch.

“He is a national footballer for North Macedonia and he’s been consistent. He’s not a flash in the pan.

“He’s got a bit about him. I think, behind the scenes at Aberdeen, they are saying it will be a minimum of £4m to get him.

“I don’t think they’ll get that. If the player is aware that things are going on then things can move very quickly.

“Is he a target for Celtic? I’ve no idea. Should he be given Celtic’s circumstances? Yeah, why not?

“When he’s under your nose when he’s on the radar, he knows the country, he knows the league and Celtic are going to lose strikers next month to the Asian Cup, then yeah, Miovski should be under consideration.”

I suppose the very real question the Celtic fans, and Rodgers, should be asking is is Miovski the player that is going to make a material difference to the Parkhead club’s Champions League campaign?

In fact, is spending over £4m on a striker who is likely to sit on the bench behind Kyogo, and now, Hyoengyu Oh a wise move as well?

Miovski is well withing Celtic’s price and age range but this apparent interest seems to be raising more questions than answers. And, for me, that says a lot.
