Middlesbrough forward Sam Silvera is set to join Championship new boys Portsmouth FC on loan, according to a report from Guardian Sport reporter Will Unwin.
The Australian only joined Boro last summer, and featured in 37 league matches for Michael Carrick’s side, scoring four goals over the course of the campaign.
Silvera only managed to start 12 games for The Riverside outfit in the previous campaign, with the majority of his appearances coming from the bench, and a move to Fratton Park will likely see him feature more prominently in the upcoming campaign.
The deal to take the 2023 recruit to the current League One champions does not have an option for Pompey to make the deal permanent, with Boro expecting Silvera to return and make an impact at The Riverside, as per Northern Echo reporter Dom Shaw.
Silvera’s first season in England may not have gone the way he had imagined after making the move from Australia last summer, with a place in the Boro starting lineup proving hard to come by.
The forward did manage to find the net on his first start for the club, with a neat take in the 3-2 victory over Huddersfield Town in the EFL Cup getting his campaign up and running in August.
