Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: £40m Leicester City transfer stance

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall transfer: £40m rivals, imminent deadline, Leicester City stance

June 30 marks the close of the accounts for the 23-24 season and so sides are working on balancing their books in order to avoid breaches of Profit and Sustainability Rules. Leicester City are among the clubs in trouble, with the EFL long predicting they would outspend the threshold.

As such, the future of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a contentious one. As an academy graduate, his sale would go into the accounts as pure profit and would be hugely beneficial to City’s bid to comply with financial regulations. Here’s everything you need to know on the future of the club’s star midfielder.

Over recent days, reports of interest in Dewsbury-Hall has re-emerged. Brighton made an offer of around £20m back in January, a bombshell at the time, but it was not enough to get City to part with their main man midway through a promotion bid. The Telegraph report that the Seagulls remain keen on the 25-year-old as they look to bolster the squad for new manager Fabian Hurzeler.

Back in January, Brentford were another side listed as a suitor for Dewsbury-Hall, and they are said to retain an interest too. The Mail report that the Bees will rival Brighton for the midfielder but will have to part with £40m to sign him, which would eclipse both sides’ record transfer fees.
