Wrexham’s stadium plans face major hurdle as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney forced into rethink
Wrexham’s owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney look to be reassessing their options at the club’s stadium with plans being looked into to redevelop their Kop stand which has already cost them.
Stadium plans at Wrexham AFC’s Racecourse Ground look to have hit a hurdle with Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney likely to be extremely frustrated.
The two owners have long been looking to redevelop their stadium with the inclusion of a new Kop stand – which has been out of use for almost 20 years. The two have already shared their dismay with the lack of progress in building the stand, documented on their Disney+ show ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, with a new update being shared on Monday.
The statement shared that both the club and the local council are ‘reassessing’ the plans, despite their initial hopes that the new stand would be ready for the 2024/25 season. This now appears extremely unlikely, with the parties now seemingly exploring alternate options – with them set to keep their tem.
A statement by the club on Monday read: “Wrexham AFC can share several exciting updates regarding the ongoing development of the StōK Cae Ras, driven by our evolving vision for the Club’s future.
“First, we can confirm the extension of the temporary stand, which will accommodate approximately 3,000 seats. This temporary solution will remain in place until the Kop Development begins.
