They were relegated from the Premier League last term along with Sheffield United and Luton Town and are currently in the hunt for a new boss following Vincent Kompany’s surprise exit to Bayern Munich.

McGinlay, 17, appears to be a man in-demand in England this summer and he is being tipped for a bright future in the game. TEAMtalk have reported that West Brom and Stoke City are admirers, whilst the likes of Ipswich Town, Norwich City and Celtic have been mentioned as potential suitors in the past.

In this latest update regarding the player’s situation by the Daily Record, the Clarets are believed to be admirers.

Burnley have an important couple of months ahead of them on the transfer front as they prepare for life back in the Football League.

Whoever they pick as their next manager will have the chance to bolster their first-team in the market.

In the meantime, they could be looking at possible recruits for the future which is where McGinlay comes into the question.

The Clarets could see him as a potential option for down the line and someone who they would be able to integrate into their senior team over the next couple of years.

McGinlay is a Scotland youth international and he was on the books at Partick Thistle before linking up with Queen’s Park. They finished 8th in the Scottish second tier last term.

The Spiders are eager to retain his services, as per the Daily Record, but they face serious competition from other teams.

Burnley will be aiming for an immediate promotion to the top flight and need to get their next appointment right.

Kompany’s move to Bayern Munich has raised a lot of eyebrows and it gives the Clarets a change to refresh and go again under someone new.
