Richard “Rip” Hamilton is the all-time leading scorer for the Detroit Pistons in the playoffs and one of the top two-guards in NBA history for the last 20 years.
In the current verbal spat between Rasheed Wallace and Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors regarding the outcome of a matchup between Green’s Warriors title teams and the 2004 Pistons, Hamilton made the decision on Monday to support his former teammate.
“In my Guarant-Sheed voice we would win in 6!” According to Hamilton’s X account. “I see a lot of mismatches on the floor.”
Over his Detroit Pistons playoff career, Hamilton has scored 2,467 points, more than 200 points more than Pistons great Isiah Thomas (2,261).
The other members of the 2004 Pistons, Joe Dumars (1,752), Tayshaun Prince (1,476), and Chauncey Billups (1,958) complete the list of the Pistons’ all-time top five postseason scorers.
The Warriors’ 2017 title team with Kevin Durant lost just one game in the playoffs, while the 2004 Pistons lost seven. The Pistons’ 4-1 “five game sweep” over Shaquille O’Neal, Gary Payton, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant and the 2004 Lakers is widely regarded as one of the most well-played series in NBA playoffs history.
