Everton reject ‘Crazy’ Manchester United bid for Jarrad Branthwaite
Everton have rejected a “crazy” transfer bid from Manchester United for Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Fichajes.net.
Writing on their website (31 May), the Spanish news outlet report that the Red Devils have tabled their first offer for the defender although the amount was undisclosed.
The Toffees reportedly value Branthwaite at around £80million, and the Blues will not allow the 21-year-old to leave the club without receiving an “adequate offer” for his services despite their current financial situation.
Everton showing financial strength?
It’s going to be a long old summer at Goodison Park, with a host of their top players expected to be the targets for other clubs.
But the club want to keep their best squad together if they get the chance, because losing top stars will only make it harder for Sean Dyche to progress up the Premier League table and move away from relegation battles.
But Branthwaite is more than just a cash cow for the club to earn money from, he could be the future of the club and potentially even the England national team too, such is his quality
A lot has been made of the financial situation at Everton, but reports now suggest they are confident that administration and PSR charges won’t happen and they’re not under pressure to sell before June 30.
That shows some strength financially, which could make teams think twice about trying to raid the squad and potentially give them a chance to keep the band together for 2024/25.
