Everton takeover talks will collapse after ‘horrific’ twist – O’Rourke

Everton must “pull the plug” on all takeover talks with 777 Partners after their deadline expired at the end of May, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke called the deal a “farce” which has quickly turned to “scaremongering”.

777 Partners were given a deadline of May 31st to meet the conditions laid out by the Premier League for an Everton takeover deal.

The US group struck a £500million deal to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in the club but they have failed to provide satisfactory proof of funding.

Everton are now expected to explore alternative takeover options with 777 failing to progress on their deal by the May deadline.

Everton must end 777 takeover with fans exposed to ‘horror stories’

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke said: “I hope the deadline for 777 doesn’t get extended – I’m fed up talking about it.

With 777 Partners the whole thing has really been a farce.

I said this deal wasn’t going to happen from the start, and I don’t think it’s going to change overnight now.

I think Everton need to pull the plug on these talks with 777 Partners because it’s just been scaremongering ever since.

Fans have heard the horror stories of their other ownership that they’ve got with other football clubs.

There’s also been other businesses that 777 are involved in which have gone to the wall as well.

So right now, they just need to move on.
