Everton keen to sell Amadou Onana over Manchester United and Chelsea targets
Everton are keen to sell midfielder Amadou Onana this summer.
As the Toffees look to balance the books, they would prefer to sell the Belgian international over the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford.
Onana has attracted interest from clubs such as Arsenal and Newcastle in the past.
The 22-year-old signed for Everton in 2022 and has since made 72 appearances for the Merseyside club.
The youngster has also made 11 appearances for the Belgium national team.
He was recently named as part of the country’s 25-man squad for Euro 2024, with the side set to face Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine in their three group games in late June.
Pickford has previously been named as a number one target for Chelsea, while Manchester United are confident they can sign defender Branthwaite.
Pickford, who has made 279 appearances for Everton since signing for the club in 2017, is one of the club’s most valuable assets heading into the transfer window.
The England number one has been key to Everton’s survival in the Premier League in recent seasons, but could attract a much-needed substantial fee in view of the club’s ongoing financial issues.
Meanwhile, Branthwaite has earned himself a place in Gareth Southgate’s provisional Euro 2024 squad having made an impressive 41 appearances for the Toffees in all competitions this season.
While Everton are desperate to keep him, the defender’s sale could contribute to an important summer of business.
The club finished the season in 15th place, 14 points ahead of the eventual relegation spots. They had also been docked a total of six points throughout the season for breaches of Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
