JUST IN: Charged with animal cruelty is a defensive lineman for the Chiefs.

Due to claims of animal abuse, another Kansas City Chiefs player is in legal hot water.

In Tuscaloosa, Isaiah Buggs, a former outstanding defensive lineman at Alabama, is accused of animal abuse. Officers discovered a pit bull and a Rottweiler mix crated in a house without food or water, which led to the charges. The canines were taken by the authorities on March 28 and were described as “malnourished, emaciated, and neglected.”

A neighbor said the dogs had been in the abandoned home for at least ten days. The home looked to be abandoned. It was determined that Buggs was the tenant of the concerned residence.

Buggs has denied the allegations, with his agent claiming that the defensive lineman is the victim of an attempt by the city of Tuscaloosa to hurt his reputation over a business dispute.

A sixth-round pick in 2019, Buggs joined the Chiefs practice squad in January. He signed a reserve/future contract with the team in February.

The Chiefs’ offseason has been marred by issues surrounding wide receiver Rashee Rice, who is in significant legal trouble following a Dallas car crash in late March.
