Everton departures confirmed as Jonjoe Kenny and three more players leave club
Everton have confirmed the departure of players this summer as retained list published
Jonjoe Kenny is quitting Everton after rejecting a deal while Fabian Delph, Cenk Tosun and club record signing Gylfi Sigurdsson will all leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of this month.
Ahead of the release of the Premier League retained lists, Everton, as already reported, have taken up the option to extend Asmir Begovic’s deal for a further year – and offered a new contract to fellow goalkeeper Andy Lonergan – while the club are also in negotiations with Lewis Gibson over a new deal.
Everton have also taken up the option to extend Asmir Begovic’s deal for a further year . Begovic joined the Blues on a free transfer last summer from Bournemouth. His one-year deal included the option for a second and, as reported by the ECHO last month, the Blues agreed to retain the 34-year-old until 2023.
Kenny was also offered fresh terms by Frank Lampard but has decided to move on in pursuit of a new opportunity elsewhere. The Kirkdale-born full-back, who made 50 Premier League appearances, joined Everton aged nine and spent 16 years with the club, captaining the Under 23s to Premier League 2 glory in 2017. Delph, 32, signed for £8.5million from Manchester City in 2019, Tosun cost £27million from Besiktas in 2018 and Sigurdsson was a £40million buy from Swansea City in 2017.
In professional age groups, Joe Anderson, Jack Barrett, Elijah Campbell, Liam Higgins, Mackenzie Hunt, Einar Iversen, Mathew Mallon, Sean McAllister and Patrick Nash have all been offered new contracts. In a club statement, Everton said they wished to thank all departing players for their contribution throughout their time at the club.
