Everton Fans’ Forum ‘severely disappointed’ as Howard Webb request ignored

The Everton Fans’ Forum is “severely disappointed” after confirming the PGMOL has not responded to its latest letter.

The fan panel wrote to the PGMOL head Howard Webb in March and received an initial response, albeit one that clouded over many questions.

Webb was asked to clarify certain issues in a follow-up response, but that was not forthcoming prior to Friday’s (12 April) 5pm deadline.

The fan group posted on X [12 April]: “On 28/03/24 we received a response to our letter/meeting with PGMOL.

“We felt that this was generic and did not answer any of our concerns or questions. We requested a more detailed follow up by 5pm today (12/04/24).

“We can confirm that no further correspondence had been received from PGMOL. We are severely disappointed by this especially after positive engagement by PGMOL. “Evertonians have a right to feel let down by the lack of direct response to questions posed to PGMOL. We will continue to chase for a reply that Evertonians deserve.”

Everton suffer from bad refereeing decisions

Former Premier League official Webb probably thought he could get away with providing a generic response to the concerns raised in last month’s letter. Not quite.

Everton fans want clarity over certain refereeing decisions earlier in the campaign, such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s red card against Crystal Palace that was later rescinded.

There was also Dejan Kulusevski’s challenge on Amadou Onana that should have resulted in a penalty against Tottenham, plus the handball call against the midfielder versus Manchester City.

Webb does deserve credit for replying, but the answers he provided just were not good enough. The follow-up request provided an opportunity to clear up a few things.

Instead, the Everton Fans’ Forum has had to reach out again. Let’s hope an adequate response is forthcoming this time around.
