Tottenham want to sign two of the Premier League’s biggest names

Tottenham pushed for a Champions League slot in their first season under Ange Postecoglou, but because they failed to match up to Aston Villa in a European battle for a second season running, the club knows more investment is needed.

Like his predecessors, Postecoglou is going to push Daniel Levy and other key decision-makers at Tottenham to open the checkbook and bring in some star talent in the midfield and the attack.

According to a report from ESPN, Tottenham are eyeing Brentford striker Ivan Toney and Chelsea center midfielder Conor Gallagher as two big-name transfer targets.

Toney has been most closely linked to Arsenal and Chelsea as a transfer solution at striker, but the star of the 2022/23 season for Brentford’s links to both London clubs has cooled.

Perhaps Tottenham could swoop in and sign Toney to man the middle, forming a fluid attacking trident with Dejan Kulusevski on the right and superstar Son Heung-min on the left.

Selling Richarlison to Saudi Arabia could help Tottenham clear the money necessary to pry Toney from Brentford, as the Bees value him highly.

Before Cole Palmer’s massive breakout for Chelsea, it looked like Conor Gallagher was the Blues’ best player, but he has since been criticized for lacking in the technical department.

Gallagher has his limitations, but he still scored 5 goals with 7 assists, providing quality defensive and progressive work in the Chelsea midfield to go with end product. He was also great for Crystal Palace prior to Chelsea.

Tottenham could use Gallagher as an upgrade in the midfield, and his energy and ability to create chances would benefit Spurs. If he is priced reasonably at 40 million euros or less, he could be a great move, but it’s unlikely Chelsea will give a “crosstown rival” any discounts.
