SAD DEPARTURE: Chris Roberts is gone….

ROBERTS TO LEAVE EVERTON

Everton can confirm Chris Roberts will leave his role as Women’s Assistant Manager when his contract expires at the end of next month.

Roberts joined the Blues’ backroom staff in December 2018 and, in his five-and-a-half years at the Club, he helped the Women’s team achieve three top-six finishes in the Women’s Super League and an appearance in the Women’s FA Cup final in 2020, while the Scot also took interim charge of the team in the closing stages of the 2021/22 season.

Giving thanks to Evertonians, Roberts said: “Once Everton has touched you nothing will be the same.

“After five-and-a-half years as a Toffee, my time at the Club has come to an end. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with the most amazing people at Finch Farm and across the Club.

“There are so many people at the Club whose life is Everton. They don’t always get the recognition but are as much a part of every team as the players and coaches.

“There have been challenging times, but also good times I’ll never forget. Three top-half finishes, an FA Cup final at Wembley and numerous games at Goodison Park. But my best memories will be the wonderful players and staff I’ve shared this journey with.

“Finally, to the Everton fans. The best in the world. No one is ever in doubt what is expected when we wear the Everton crest. You are the soul of this club and I’ll miss you all.

“This city has become my home, and I’m proud that my children have all been born here. Everton is a family and I’m so proud to have represented you. I’ve given it my all. It’s been a privilege!”

Alan McTavish, Everton Women Chief Executive Officer, added: “Everyone at Everton thanks Chris for his hard work and dedication during his time at the Club.

“He has been a popular member of our coaching staff and has shown his commitment to Everton throughout his time with us, including when he stepped up to take interim charge of the team in 2022.

“We wish Chris all the best for the future.”
