Hawks coach Quin Snyder breaks down crucial defensive stops vs Nets

Wednesday night, the Atlanta Hawks, led by Trae Young, defeated the Brooklyn Nets 147-145 in overtime to tie their 2023–24 record at 7–7. Young had an incredible game in the victory, throwing out nine assists and scoring 43 points in a game that came just after the Hawks’ thrilling defeat to the Indiana Pacers in another epically high-scoring contest.

Hawks head coach Quin Snyder was happy of his team’s ability to secure some vital saves in overtime to defeat Brooklyn, even though defense was obviously not the focus of a game with such impressive scoring totals.

According to Bally Sports: Hawks, Snyder stated, “I think that regardless of what’s going on during the game… we kept our composure.” “We got some significant stops when it counted. We were discussing that on the last stretch in the huddle; the guys were talking about it. We did give up some offensive rebounds a few times, but those were stops too—at least at first. It’s nice to see.

Even though the Hawks did not get many stops on Wednesday night, they did get a few when they needed them, most notably when center Onyeka Okongwu stopped Mikal Bridges of Brooklyn, who finished the game with 45 points to lead all scorers.

Atlanta’s disappointing three-game losing streak during their home stand came to an end with the victory. The Hawks’ next game is scheduled for November 25 against the Washington Wizards.
