What Aston Villa fans did as Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp left the pitch for the penultimate time
This is what Aston Villa fans did as Jurgen Klopp left Villa Park after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw on Monday night.
It’s difficult to believe there is now just one more game left for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. One more game until he departs for pastures new.
His penultimate match as Liverpool manager offered an exciting encounter. Even though there was little at stake for both teams, the two sides gave it their very best at Villa Park.
Liverpool and Aston Villa both went full throttle, which led to an exciting encounter. Full of action and plenty of goals.
Klopp will have wanted to end on a high though, and Villa’s last comeback definitely tainted what was a solid performance from Liverpool in the first hour or so.
What Aston Villa fans did as Jurgen Klopp left the pitch
The game was all about Jurgen Klopp up in the stands. Liverpool fans bellowed his chant from almost within the first few minutes of the game and it echoed around Villa Park.
But Klopp even got a standing ovation from the home supporters as he left the pitch.
According to The Athletic’s James Pearce, Klopp was seen being applauded by Villa supporters as he headed for the tunnel.
It’s great to see Klopp being given the respect that he deserves. He has been a brilliant manager in the Premier League who has brought a fresh wave of excitement to England’s top flight in the nine years he spent at Liverpool.
During the years when Manchester City has dominated everything, Klopp has been a worthy adversary and probably the only one until Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal emerged over the last year or so.
Not having him in the Premier League next season is going to be strange. Not having him as Liverpool manager is going to be even stranger.
