Officers investigating the deaths of a man and woman who were ‘known to each other’
Police have blocked off a residential street in Coventry after a double tragedy, it has been confirmed. Officers are investigating the deaths of a man and woman after an incident in Caludon Road, Stoke in the early hours of this morning., April 5.
The man, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene while a woman, who was in her 40s, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. She died from her injuries a short time later, police said.
The pair are believed to be known to one another, with their next of kin being “supported by officers.” West Midlands Police has closed off the road, with a heavy police presence on scene as police try to establish what happened. Police have since reassured the public over what they believe is an “isolated incident.” They are not looking for anyone in relation to the deaths. Anyone with information, or who saw the incident, has been urged to contact police. A full statement from West Midlands Police read: “We’re investigating after the deaths of a man and woman in Coventry today. We were called to Caludon Road shortly after 5.30am today. A man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman, in her 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“Sadly, she died from her injuries a short time later. The people are believed to have been known to each other, and their next-of-kin are being supported by officers. We will be holding a scene at the address today to establish exactly what happened.
“We would like to reassure the public that we believe this was an isolated incident. We’re not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident at this stage. Anyone who saw what happened or knows more can contact us via 101 or Live Chat quoting log 469 of 5 April.”
