Everton Were Showing Interest In This West Ham Forward In January: Should The Toffees Go Back For Him?
Everton were showing interest in recruiting West Ham United forward Divin Mubama in the January transfer window.
In a recent report, Sunderland Echo mentioned that Everton were showing interest in West Ham United forward Divin Mubama in January. It is understood that the Toffees along with Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion were all trying to land the English striker last winter.
Mubama’s Growing Frustrations At West Ham United
Mubama is having a tough campaign at the London Stadium as he has struggled to earn regular first-team football for West Ham in the Premier League. The 19-year-old has only made 12 appearances for the Hammers this season but has failed to score or assist a goal for them across all fronts.
The talented teenager has seen all of his game time off the bench which explains his lack of form in front of the opposition goal. However, Mubama has to find a way to improve his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 72.7% in the Premier League (stats via whoscored). His current contract at the East London club will expire at the end of this campaign which could open the door for the Toffees to sign him on a free transfer later this year.
Should Everton Go Back For Mubama?
Mubama can create some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal and can be a good finisher in the final third when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. He can also make a few clever runs with the ball. However, the English youngster needs to find a way to improve his link-up play up top.
Mubama is in dire need of regular playing time if he wants to develop into a world-class forward someday. Therefore, it makes sense for the Toffees to go back for him if they are willing to give him a regular run of games to prove his worth in the Premier League next season.
At 19, Mubama has the potential to be a future star in English football. Furthermore, he is on an expiring contract which makes him an affordable option for the Merseyside club to pursue at the end of this campaign. Mubama has already got some Premier League experience under his belt and won’t take much time to settle into life at Goodison Park.
