Tammy Abraham may have only spent one season at Aston Villa, but he’s a firm fan favourite at Villa Park.
Indeed, that one season Abraham spent at Villa was one to remember.
The England international banged in the goals for Villa back in the 2018/19 campaign as he helped the club return to the Premier League.
Abraham took something of a gamble joining Villa at the time as he’d just spent a season in the Premier League with Swansea and was looking to build a career at the top level.
Speaking to JD Football, Abraham stated that he doesn’t regret his move to Villa, while also sharing something that shocked him about the Midlands club when he joined.
Tammy Abraham shocked by Aston Villa
Abraham spoke about his time at Villa and what shocked him about the club.
“Probably my best experience going up to Aston Villa. It wasn’t in my plans to go from Prem to Champ, but I have no regrets,” Abraham said.
“It’s an amazing club, I didn’t realise how massive they were until I actually signed there. The best feeling was to have a great season and the promotion was probably one of the best moments of my career so far.”
Aston Villa are a huge club
Abraham says he was shocked by the size of Villa, and that is often something that is underestimated.
Villa may have spent some time in the Championship around this period, but make no mistake about it, this is one of the biggest clubs in the country.
They’re the biggest team in the second-largest city in England, and they’re former European champions.
Players of a certain generation may not realise just how huge Villa are as a club, but if Unai Emery continues to take the club in this direction, the next generation will be well aware of what a force the Clarets are.
