Why Did This Recent Golden State Warriors Player Not Get Signed by An NBA Playoff Team?

Chalal Green last participated in an NBA game as a member of the Golden State Warriors in the 2022–2023 season.

He was a vital member of the team, averaging 6.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 57 regular season games (one start), shooting 37.8% from three-point range and 54.0% from the field.

Furthermore, Green played in seven games (two starts) and contributed to the Warriors’ advancement to the NBA playoffs’ second round.

Green was not signed by any other team in the league for the 2023–24 NBA season, and the Warriors decided not to bring him back.

It’s surprising that no contender awarded him a seat on their bench for the postseason given his strong defense and three-point shooting abilities.

In 13 minutes of action during Game 2 of the Warriors vs. Lakers second-round series from the previous season, Green finished with 15 points, one rebound, two assists, and a 6/9 shooting and 3/6 three-point shooting percentage.

Green has nine NBA seasons under his belt and played basketball for Alabama throughout his college years.

He has played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, and San Antonio Spurs in addition to Golden State.

In 544 regular season games, he shot 36.8% from three-point range and 47.7% from the field, yielding career averages of 7.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

Additionally, he has played in 56 NBA postseason games for the Clippers, Nuggets, and Grizzlies (seven of which he started).
