Sean Dyche has killed a transfer dream – Everton player can’t now be snatched away this summer

Barcelona have identified Everton’s Amadou Onana as one of their targets and this has been reported in the Catalan media for much of this year.

The La Liga side are looking to sign a midfielder and efforts are ongoing to strengthen that position in the next window.

Monday’s edition of Sport states a deal for the Everton star would depend on Barcelona’s financial situation. The Belgium international has been on top of their priority list. The 22-year-old is liked by Barcelona sporting director Deco and the club’s sporting leaders due to his age, physicality, power and good control.

Barca are well aware of Everton’s situation and the former Lille man would have been the perfect market opportunity, had the Toffees been relegated.

That won’t be the case as Sean Dyche’s side, after ‘astonishing progression’ [four wins in last five league games], have secured a place in the Premier League next season.

Therefore, Sport state Everton won’t go below €60m for Onana. Barcelona can’t afford to pay this fee and his signing ‘becomes complicated’ for the Camp Nou side.

Despite being the priority target, Barca seem to have given up on the Belgian since they can’t meet Everton’s demands.
