Leicester is ready to set a new Championship record on Monday

Leicester and Manchester City currently hold the record for the most second-tier titles, having won seven each.

If The Foxes beat Preston on Monday evening, they’ll win their eighth to set a new Championship record.

They enjoyed their first second-tier triumph in 1925 and their last in 2014 when Nigel Pearson guided them to a 102-point finish.

So it could be a history-making day.

Leicester City will have one eye on the summer

With promotion confirmed, transfer targets will be drawn up behind the scenes with preliminary talks potentially scheduled.

Indeed, there is still a job to do on the pitch but certainly, they’ll have one eye on next season, especially with the summer transfer window fast approaching.

Further, with eight players out of contract at the end of the season, it’s set to be a very busy couple of months for Jon Rudkin and the board.

It’s been a rocky few weeks but they’ve returned to form at the crucial time and answered a lot of questions about their character.

After the celebrations over the weekend, Maresca may opt to make a few changes against North End, with some fringe players given the opportunity.

Will Alves was on the scoresheet for the under-21s on Friday after finishing off a mazey dribble, so he could be given his first start of the season.

As could Sammy Braybrooke, who also netted in the reverse game with a sensational curling effort.
