Heat’s Bam Adebayo wants them to embrace a “cage fight” against the Celtics.

The Miami Heat surprised everyone in the NBA last season by winning the NBA Finals. After winning the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics in the 2023 NBA play-in tournament, they were upset by the Denver Nuggets.

After two games in the 2024 playoffs, Erik Spoelstra’s team is poised to go on yet another incredible run.

In the first game of their first-round playoff series, the Heat were defeated by the Boston Celtics on Sunday. The series was tied on Wednesday when they recovered by making 23 three-pointers. The Celtics appear to be in trouble all of a sudden.

During his post-match press conference, Heat center Bam Adebayo encouraged his teammates to play the rest of the series with a cage-fighter mentality.

“We’ve been doubted a lot through our playoff runs, people saying we couldn’t do a lot of stuff that we did,” Adebayo stated. “So why give up now, for myself and my team? We have the wall to our backs.

Everyone is opposed to us. Use that as fuel only, then. Our people think we can prevail. So let’s have a cage battle, mano a mano. Let’s shoot hoops.”

Arguably the NBA’s most talented roster is that of the Celtics. They are the overwhelming favorites to win the Eastern Conference. But the Heat have always managed to obtain an advantage.

In this series, Spoelstra’s side shouldn’t win any more games. The Celtics are too strong, and they are missing three players. However, basketball isn’t played on paper. Adebayo is aware of the potential harm his team might cause to Boston. He is aware that they have a chance to pull off another huge upset in the opening round if they stay around long enough.

Playing tough, well-coached basketball is Miami’s secret to success. On Wednesday, they displayed their blueprint. Now, if they hope to force a Game 6 or possibly a Game 7, they must be prepared to roll with the punches.
