Rod Stewart blown away by what Everton fans said in win v Liverpool

Rod Stewart was blown away by the support Everton fans gave their side to spur them on to victory over Liverpool.

The Toffees picked up a first Goodison Park victory over fierce rivals Liverpool since 2010 with a 2-0 triumph on Wednesday (24 April).

Everton fans played their part as they got behind the side from start to finish to inspire a win that all but makes certain of Premier League safety.

Speaking on talkSPORT [25 April, 09:37am], Stewart said: “Looking at that game last night, Liverpool and Everton, those supporters – wow.”

Everton earn bragging rights over Liverpool
Everton supporters have endured many a painful memory in Merseyside derbies down the years, not least in recent times.

There was a rare victory at Anfield during the Covid period, plus an uninspiring stalemate in their most recent encounter at Goodison before this.

This victory is one that supporters can now look back on fondly when they move to the new ground at Bramley Moore Dock goes through.

Not only did Everton pick up bragging rights, they moved further clear from danger and seriously damaged Liverpool’s title prospects.

This has been another disappointing campaign, not helped by the multiple points deductions, but it is looking like it will have a happy ending.

Sean Dyche will now be eager for his side to push on when Brentford travel to Merseyside this weekend. Another special atmosphere will no doubt await.
