Lakers dominate Rockets despite Alperen Sengun’s double-double

Los Angeles Lakers defeat Houston Rockets 107-97 despite Alperen Sengun’s double-double heroics.

In a commanding display, the Los Angeles Lakers secured a 107-97 victory over the visiting Houston Rockets, riding high on Anthony Davis’ powerhouse performance and a stellar contribution from Austin Reaves off the bench.

Davis, showcasing his dominance, notched his 17th double-double of the season with an impressive 27 points and 14 rebounds, complemented by an impactful defensive display with five blocks. Meanwhile, Reaves, despite a slow start, rallied admirably to score 18 crucial points, going 6 for 11 from the field, and contributed significantly with four rebounds and three steals.

The turning point of the game arrived during a stunning 25-2 second-quarter run spearheaded by Davis and Reaves, propelling the Lakers into a commanding position. This surge enabled them to snatch control of the game after an initially promising start by the Rockets.

LeBron James chipped in with 16 points and seven assists, while Max Christie made an impactful contribution off the bench with 12 points for the Lakers. Jarred Vanderbilt, making a return after missing 20 games due to injury, grabbed four rebounds despite a scoreless outing in his 14 minutes on the court.

Despite the Rockets’ efforts, led by Alperen Sengun’s impressive 21-point, 13-rebound double-double and Fred VanVleet’s 22 points and seven assists, Houston continued to struggle on the road, remaining winless.

The Lakers’ dominance was evident as they capitalized on Houston’s second-quarter collapse, taking advantage of missed shots and turnovers to build a substantial lead. Despite the Rockets’ attempts to narrow the gap in the third quarter, the Lakers maintained control, entering the final quarter with a commanding 86-72 lead.

The game took a dramatic turn in the fourth quarter as Rockets coach Ime Udoka was ejected after receiving his second technical, highlighting the intensity of the matchup.

The Lakers’ convincing victory cements their prowess on the court, showcasing a formidable display led by Davis and bolstered by a strong supporting cast, while the Rockets continue to seek their first road win of the season.
