Jarrad Branthwaite valuation plummets by £30m after Everton development
Bryan King believes that Everton will need to lower their asking price for Jarrad Branthwaite.
The ex-Everton scout claims the Toffees won’t get anywhere near £80million for the centre-back.
It comes after Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg provided an update via X (16 April) revealing that Branthwaite is a target for Manchester United, although the Red Devils are put off by the £80million asking price.
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t think the 22-year-old is worth that kind of money.
“I think his value probably decreased after that performance against Chelsea,” King said.
“I would expect that Everton are going to need to lower their asking price for Branthwaite. He is a good player with time on his side. But against Chelsea, he was terrible defensively while on the pitch. “He looked anything but an £80million player. I would say that is £50million too much. “Everton are being unrealistic, Branthwaite has had one good season and they’re asking for that kind of money? It will never happen.”
Everton might be forced to sell Jarrad Branthwaite amid Goodison Park troubles
The Toffees find themselves in an incredibly precarious position.
After another season where off-field drama has dominated the headlines at Goodison Park, it is clear that funds will need to be raised this summer.
That could mean the club are forced to sell Branthwaite, who has been one of the few standout performers for Sean Dyche this season.
But they might need to accept a lower offer, and unfortunately due to the situation the club finds itself in, they aren’t in the strongest negotiating position.
In other Everton news, Sean Dyche is now at risk of being sacked by Everton.
