Leicester City goal hero Harry Winks has said that playing at the club under Enzo Maresca is the most he has ever enjoyed football.
The former England man decided to drop a division in the summer when he joined City from Tottenham, where he had spent his entire career. Winks has been a key player in City’s climb to the top of the Championship table, providing the link between the defence and the rest of the team as well as dictating games.
The midfielder is not known for his goalscoring, but he was the hero as he finished off a blistering counter-attack in added time to earn City a valuable 2-1 win over West Brom on Saturday.
It was his second goal of the season, meaning he has equalled his best tally already. His time with Tottenham included a Champions League final and a memorable display against Real Madrid, but this season is one that Winks is enjoying more than any other.
“Leicester is a huge club, anyway, the club speaks for itself,” he told Sky Sports after the game against West Brom. “Amazing fanbase and amazing club.
“It was a massive factor (to join Leicester). The club speaks for itself. I spoke to the manager and the way he wants to play. He is the exact type of football I want to play in.
