Leeds move to sign Vizela midfielder Samu

Samu has a contract with the relegation-threatened team until the end of the season which means the Whites can sign the 27-year-old midfielder for free in the summer transfer window.

The report says that Leeds are actually impressed by the player’s stamina and fitness record. He averages around 12-13 Km per game, and Leeds believe he would be an ideal fit for English football.

Right now, the midfielder wants to focus on the current season and help him avoid the drop. However, his future could lie elsewhere in a few months.

It is difficult to predict how Leeds will shape up next summer, especially if they secure promotion to the Premier League. There is a high possibility that the Whites could make a drastic change to their squad and bring in players who have proven Premier League quality.

The Whites have been linked with a move for their former player Kalvin Phillips, and Daniel Farke could look for other options.

The Whites are firmly in the race to secure an automatic promotion and face challenges from Ipswich Town and Leicester City, with only six games left. The Foxes can move to the top of the table should they win their game in hand, but there could be lots of twists and turns.

The recent injury to Ilia Gruev and how the Whites struggled without him indicates that singing a new midfielder is a priority for the club. Ethan Ampadu did a terrific job playing in the holding midfield role, but he has looked even better playing at the back alongside Joe Rodon.

A fresh report from Portugal newspaper Record (5 April, page 18) claims that the Whites are showing keen interest in signing Vizela midfielder Samu. Southampton are also keeping tabs on the Vizela skipper who has managed three goals and two assists in Portugal’s second division.
