Bayern Munich could save West Ham from nightmare transfer situation with £42 million man
West Ham United seemingly could be saved from a potentially nightmarish transfer situation this summer.
It seems as though West Ham boss David Moyes could be tempted into making a big transfer mistake when the summer transfer window opens.
Numerous new signings are needed, with so many players expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
In fact, it has been suggested that as many as 12 Hammers players could potentially move on this summer.
It could be a really busy summer window, much like the one in 2022 when Moyes brought eight new players into the club.
There will be plenty of ins and outs, that’s for sure. However, there is someone being heavily linked with joining us on a permanent deal this summer, and many West Ham fans really don’t want him.
Apparently the German giants could swoop in and save the Hammers from making what would be a big mistake this summer.
Bayern have made a habit out of signing English players recently, with the additions of Harry Kane and Eric Dier. And now another Three Lions international apparently could be en route to the Allianz Arena.
According to a report from The Sun, Hammers on-loan midfielder Kalvin Phillips could be a transfer target for Bayern Munich in the summer.
It is suggested that West Ham are eyeing up a permanent deal for the England international as well. I truly believe that signing him could be a catastrophic mistake from Moyes.
He is on the downward curve of his career and has regressed badly over the past 18 months or so. The 28-year-old would demand huge wages and has a really poor record with injuries.
Now, Phillips has endured a disastrous start to life at the London Stadium since joining West Ham on loan from Manchester City in the summer.
The 28-year-old has made mistake after mistake, most notably during our games against Bournemouth and Newcastle. He looks to be well off the pace, and the big worry is that Moyes will still try to bring him to the club on a permanent deal in the summer.
After all, it was claimed recently that the Scot still believes that the midfielder will come good for the Hammers.
Pep Guardiola signed Phillips for Man City in the summer of 2022 for around £42 million (Manchester Evening News), and the Premier League champions are said to be demanding close to that fee to let him go.
If Bayern come in for Kalvin, he will surely be very tempted to join the Bundesliga giants. So it seems like they could end up doing us a huge favour this summer.
If West Ham miss out on the Phillips transfer to Bayern, I think it would be good news for us in the long-term.
