I’m working hard to get back to full fitness-Brighton star

Brighton and Hove Albion star Pervis Estupinan has insisted he is trying to get back to full fitness as quickly as possible after a season littered with injuries.

The 26-year-old has had had something of a frustrating campaign after shining under Roberto de Zerbi last season, with just 16 appearances in the Premier League and 42% of the available minutes played.

That’s been due to intermittent muscle injuries across the campaign which have seen him spend 39 days and 48 days in the treatment room, missing nine games and then 12 games for Brighton and his country.

They are among the longest injury spells of his career to date, with a muscle injury earlier in his career seeing him miss six games and 47 days and an inner ligament injury leaving him out for 47 days and six games.

He’s one of several to have spent significant time on the treatment table at Brighton this season, with an increased schedule seemingly having caught up with De Zerbi’s squad.

He’s fighting to get back to his best, and even believes there is more to come when he does manage to get back to 100%.

“It’s been months with an ankle problem,” he said.

“I’m trying to get back, seeing what I can practice there so I can be at 100 per cent, I’ve tried to be with the national team, to fight, but there’s no excuse. I’ve tried to give my all, to keep working and I’m sure I’m going to get better.”
