A journalist has claimed West Ham have been given the green light to sign a longstanding striker target with his club willing to sell.
With Gianluca Scamacca sold after one season and ageing Michail Antonio entering his West Ham swansong, there was no doubt the Hammers needed to sign a striker last summer.
The manager even admitted after Ings’ Burnley heroics that the ageing forward doesn’t offer enough to the team in his all-round game.
Well now a journalist has claimed West Ham have been given the green light to sign a 138-goal Premier League striker with his club willing to sell.
“Newcastle United face a decision over Callum Wilson this summer, with his contract due to expire in 2025…” Jones reports on SportsLens.
“West Ham United and Bournemouth could emerge as potential landing spots for the striker, who is currently sidelined through injury…
“Newcastle are having to be open-minded about player exits this summer and are likely to be more open to losing Wilson than fellow forward Alexander Isak.”
Not to mention the fact Wilson does not fit the profile of player technical director Tim Steidten will be looking to bring to the London Stadium.
We all know what the only real benefit to signing Wilson would be. Stopping him scoring his obligatory goals against the Hammers every time he faces them.
