The Chiefs reportedly haven’t gotten a second-round NFL draft pick offer in L’Jarius Sneed trade negotiations.
Chiefs Kingdom has received a ton of L’Jarius Sneed news today, with the two-leading front-runners reportedly having failed to come to an agreement with the star cornerback after negotiating with the Chiefs on a trade.
After the Titans’ reported trade fell apart and the Colts now out of the running per Adam Schefter, the market for Sneed is drying up rather quickly.
According to Carrington Harrison of 610 Sports Radio, the Chiefs might be getting low-balled in trade offers. Per his reporting, there hasn’t even been a second-round draft pick offered in trade negotiations.
There are a couple of notable takeaways here. We knew about the knee injury and its potential impact on a trade, though Harrison suggests the issues are worse than we realized.
On his radio show The Drive with Carrington Harrison, he implied that the knee issue and Sneed’s desire to become the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL were the two main issues preventing the trade.
That’s significant on its face, but also interesting given his report that no team has even offered a second-round pick. Some initial reports suggested the Chiefs thought they could get a first-round pick, though they were discussing a third-rounder with the Titans and seemed comfortable accepting less compensation.
We’ll keep you updated on all the new reports over the coming days, but I’m now of the opinion that Sneed is likely to stay in Kansas City for one more year before signing elsewhere in free agency.
