Farke expected to put 24-year-old back in Leeds United’s squad

Leeds United were without four first team players for Friday night’s 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Pascal Struijk was arguably the biggest name missing from the squad as he continues his recovery from an adductor injury that has kept him out since the Boxing Day defeat at Preston North End.

Struijk’s return to fitness will be a huge boost for Daniel Farke but he is not expected back until after the international break, providing the timescale most recently provided is accurate.

Jamie Shackleton and Stuart Dallas were two of the other absentees, though the former has barely featured at all recently anyway, while the latter is now approaching two years out.

However, according to Leeds Live, Farke could be boosted by the return of one man – Jaidon Anthony, who missed both of Leeds’ league matches last week due to personal reasons.

Anthony could return to Leeds squad

Anthony has been dealing with the loss of his Mother recently and as per the report, her funeral was last week and so Leeds were happy to give him the time off to be with family.

However, with nine days between Leeds’ last game at Sheffield Wednesday, and Sunday’s clash with Millwall, Anthony is expected to be back in the squad this weekend.

Though he has not started in the league since October, his return will be a welcome boost for Farke, with the 24-year-old having shown what he can do recently in the FA Cup.

He scored a brilliant goal in the fourth round draw with Plymouth Argyle, before then providing two lovely assists for Mateo Joseph in the defeat at Chelsea.

His inclusion in the squad will be another good option for Farke to bring off the bench and hopefully he can play a part in the run-in before returning to Bournemouth in the summer.
