The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the most disappointing teams in the league last season.
They had been a pleasant surprise during Doug Pederson’s first year on the job.
They had an easy schedule and were in control of their destiny to win the division, but it wound up crumbling later in the campaign.
Of course, a lot of that had to do with Trevor Lawrence being banged up later in the year, but it still wasn’t a good look for them.
Now, with all the talk about CJ Stroud being the best quarterback in the division and with Anthony Richardson also ready to make a statement, Lawrence wants to put the word out there that they will be back better than ever.
Talking to Yahoo Sports, the former No. 1 pick claimed that the team already has a sense of urgency to get back to their winning ways, and they’re looking forward to proving it next season.
“There’s definitely a sense of urgency this offseason to take that next step and to be a legit contender,” Lawrence said.
Notably, the AFC South could be one of the most competitive and entertaining divisions in the game.
The Jaguars’ reign was short-lived, and they will have to grind to get back to the mountaintop.
Despite not having Richardson for most of the year, first-year coach Shane Steichen made the Indianapolis Colts more competitive than expected.
Stroud and the Houston Texans also took the league by storm, and they won’t go away any time soon.
That’s why the Jaguars cannot afford to fall behind in this race, and they have to do whatever it takes to come back stronger.
