The Boston Bruins have lost their second game straight, going into overtime for both and ending with the same score, 3-2. The Bruins had recovered from a four-game losing streak prior and won two games straight, breaking the four-game skid. However, Vancouver ended their four-game skid by winning in overtime 3-2 against the Bruins on Saturday, February 23rd at the Rogers Arena.

The first period was completely scoreless, 0-0.
Jesper Boqvist opened the scoring in the second period and put Boston in the lead with his third goal of the season on a breakaway. He got behind Filip Hronek, following a neutral zone face-off battle… Justin Brazeau passed the puck to Boqvist, went around Quinn Hughes, and scored with his forehand. Extending the Bruin’s lead to 2-0, Danton Heinen scored after a wraparound attempt from Trent Frederic. Heinen put the puck inside the left post from the top of the crease.
Cutting it at 2-1 to get Vancouver on the board, Brock Boeser struck his 32nd of the season. He got a cross-ice pass from Nikita Zadorov and from the left face-off dot, Boeser shot a bouncing puck past Jeremy Swayman. Filip Hronek tied the game at 2-2 at 1:11 from the point with a slap shot, going glove side on Swayman, who was screened by Boeser at the top of the crease. The Bruins and Canucks went into overtime to determine the game-winner.
Brock Boeser scored his second of the night and his 33rd goal of the season during a power play in overtime for the 3-2 final to end the Canucks’ four-game skid. Boeser tapped in a pass from J.T. Miller from the top of the left face-off circle after Boston had been called for too many men on the ice.
Quinn Hughes on their overtime win and how the team played: “Even right before Brock scored, I thought we had our looks. It just wasn’t going, their goalie is playing great and they have great team defense, solid defensemen and play the structure well. We were able to just persevere and stay with the way we wanted to play,” – “It is difficult. I think that’s just a little bit of the maturity that we’ve been going through as a group over the last year and a half or two years who’s going to blink first. We made a couple of mistakes there in the second but I thought for the most part we drove the play there in the second and third.”
Brandon Carlo on what led the team to not being able to get the dub: “I just don’t think we played the right hockey in the third period. Just overall, from getting pucks north out of the D zone to getting pucks behind them, playing the right style of game to kind of limit their chances, I don’t think we did a good enough job at that.”
Jeremy Swayman on the overtime loss in Vancouver: “I think there’s a lot of positives tonight and something we could really grow on. We definitely lost a point and we’re not happy with that, but a lot of good things came from it. So I think we’re going to move on as a team and learn from it.”

– Thatcher Demko made 20 saves for Vancouver and Jeremy Swayman made 36 saves for Boston.
– Matt Grzelcyk returned after missing one game due to sustaining a lower-body injury. He played 19:39 in his return.
