If you ask any New York Giants fan their thoughts on the current QB situation of their team, they might start an explicit rant on how the team isn’t willing to take risks.
The public stance that the fans and the rest of the NFL know is that they’re sticking with Daniel Jones for one more year despite his terrible performance in 2023 that saw him get benched for Tommy DeVito. Some fans may even claim that they won’t be surprised to see the Giants end up at the bottom of the NFC East if Danny Dimes remains QB1.
However, a recent report suggests that the team might be pulling off a fast one as they are exploring their options for the 2024 Draft. An insider revealed that picking a QB is not off the table for them.

Giants Wire’s Dan Benton wrote about the mood inside the Giants organization when it came to Daniel Jones. According to the New York Post’s Mike Dunleavy, confidence is remarkably low on Jones’ abilities:
“I don’t believe, from my sources, that they view Daniel Jones the same way that they viewed him at this time last offseason when it was like, ‘we can not lose Daniel Jones.’ Do I think there’s a chance he’s still QB1 going into next season? Yeah, I do,” Dunleavy said.
A quick look at his stats for 2023 will tell you why the mood around Jones’ future is so uncertain. Jones only had six games before he was benched for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. During that time, he only had 909 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 6 INTs, and a career-low 5.7 yards per pass attempt.
Dunleavy also revealed that if the New York GIants were going to pick a QB, it wouldn’t be their first selection:
“I think there’s a very good chance that they use their second pick, whether that’s a second-round pick or trade-up to a second first-round pick, I do think there’s a chance that’s what they end up doing at quarterback,” Dunleavy said. “And then you’re looking at the J.J. McCarthy’s, Michael Penix’s, Bo Nix (or) someone like that after picking a Rome Odunze or Malik Nabers at six.”
The 2024 QB class is deeper than the more recent years, so the Bears should be able to find a high-ceiling signal caller in the second round.
